I have been using my old nikon loupe for ages and i finally brake after a little accident. I am considering to upgrade it to The Hawk or L1 or L2+. The gem tool shop that I know only have L1 in stock. I tried it and found the lense is slightly better and larger compare to my old nikon.

Have not tried the Hawk and L2+. Anyone here care to share your experience with these loupes? are these loupes better than L1?

Either should be fine for your needs.

I can highly recommend Harald Schneider's GemologyPro. That's what I use. I have 3 of them.

Agreed we use as well. These loupes produce a wider focal distance edge to edge. Hence the pricier price tag.

In general both are good loupes, I Personally like Swiss Axe more than Harald because of the feel when I hold it, and this has been previously discussed :
Best loupe...
Schneider L1 and L2

Any recommendation where can I purchase the L2? I read from the previous thread that I can purchase it directly from the company? any link? otherwise, amazon will always be my go to platform.

I assume this is not harald schneider right?

If your planning on going to Tucson this year, A&A Jewelry usually has the L1 or L2 at the AGTA show and a good show discount. Try their website as well.

I see. Thank you. I will check them out. I was thinking if I might be able to purchase it directly from the company since I live in Germany.

Not 100% sure, but I think it is a authorized affiliate for the Schneider Gemmologie products. You probably have the best position to inquire of such. Years ago there was a website more personalized to the individual than the current. Times change, patents, etc. These loupes are treasured we purchased one of the Gemology Pros directly here from one the authorized producers and it is a tool to treasure. I bought my Schneider L1 from A&A several years ago and it is not quite as good as the Gemology-Pro's. But I am not using for gemological work.
Good luck!

Wow those are pricey little guys! And here I thought my Eschenbach was expensive…. I have no doubt you get what you pay for though.

we all use (4 appraisers) the Swiss Axe, since years, for me, the best in the world!
