One way or another, you are going to end up paying tuition to gain knowledge in the gemstone World.

That tuition can come in the form of making mistakes that cost you money, aggravation, stress, and likely the loss of some relationships. Not an enjoyable or productive way to go to school.

That tuition can come in the form of paying for and attending a recognized institution of gemology. They have very flexible study models that will work for most people. You will learn the basics, meet people who can advance your entrance into the business, and create enjoyable memories.

Choice two will not prevent you from making some mistakes. Hopefully, they will be smaller and less consequential. You will also have resources and knowledge to fall back on. It seems like a clearly better path forward to me.
