I would like to know ingredient percentage of contact liquids for RI1.79.

How many percentage of Diiodomethane, and Sulfur?
In the other words, how much sulfur is required to reach saturation for certain quantity of Diiodomethane, in room temperature.

And I heard "Triiodomethane" is also in the liquid. If anyone knows why and how much it can be in.

Thank you for your help. Gemmology is not so common in my country. Sometimes I need to ask here.

I would suggest contacting the companies which make the RI liquids and ask them directly.

First and foremost here is what I found on most data available.
Quote:
Additional information:
For the listed ingredient(s), the identity and/or exact percentage(s) are being withheld as a trade secret

Percentages listed are 80-10-10%
I would imagine the cost of developing a stable and reliable RI liquid is extensive.
The GIA is now selling a brand "Gem-Master" (available on Amazon, eBay, etc.), where they used to sell Cargille.

Thank you for the answers.
It is interesting for me that even though they don't open ingredients percentage, SDS is valid and available.

yes, I will try to get more information from the companies.. though they may say "Trade secret"...

To make our RI 1.80 we use the following formula

100 parts diiodomethane (CAS nr 75-11-6)
25 parts tetraiodoethylene (CAS nr 513-92-8)
15 parts sulfur
