 Post subject: Limitations of Polariscope for Mounted Gems

I was wondering if anyone here can explain if a diamond can be evaluated for strain using a polariscope if the diamond is currently in a mounting. The diamond in question is a natural, earth mined stone.

Yes, it can certainly provide clues.

I see no reason you can't see the internal strain if the mounting allows good visibility of the stone in all directions.
