Really can't tell from this photo (or photos in general). That said, there seem to be hints that the red color might be concentrated along cracks in the rock, suggesting dye, but again that is a vague impression from the photo.

Agree, my first thought was dyed calcite.
@vfredc can you share some more info other than just a picture, size, where it was found (if known), anything?
