After going through hundreds of chrome diopside lately, it got me thinking, such a beautiful stone needs atleast a more marketable name.
Stones like Alexandrite, Kunzite and Tanzanite have names that sound good and have meaning and is something people can remember and say with ease.
Here is my pitch for chrome diopside. Why not call it Tsarite, czarite, tzarite. Tsar is a very Russian word, which fits a gem from that area of the world and Royalty and gems go together.

There are a couple commercial names for diopside:
Tashmarine and shanseres....neither inherently chrome bearing but I guess one could start saying Chrome Shanseres

Trigem (Columbia Gem House), which trademarked Tashmarine, uses the trademarked name "Imperial Diopside" for the chrome variety. Word apparently hasn't reached the rest of the world yet. See here:

As for "Tsarite," I shudder to think of newbies trying to cope with Tsavorite, Tsavolite, Tavolite, etc.
