Diaspore is, as far as I know, like spodumene in how hard it is to cut. Often yields are going to be much less than you hope thanks to that behavior.
Since you can easily find large (>5 ct) kunzites, I assumed that it is not hard to but this mineral species. These gems look nice too.
Large kunzites often start as much larger rough. Kunzite comes in enormous crystals, after all. Some people specialize in cutting the sort of stone, of course, but even then there are no guarantees.

That's a nice link... Thanks! I do wonder how he gets a nice and acurate polish though , just from a wheel ,must use several. His machine is interesting also , as does the transfer block . Custom or hybrid , the way it is set up looks comfortable . Something I think facetors sometimes forget about , ergonomic design is definatly a plus . What a wonderfull result from a talented man .
