I'll take the greenish-blue clean one and use the money I save to pick up a nice clean forest green Tsavorite. ;)

When I think 'forest green', I think a darker green, not a 'Tsavorite' green...this is written with that thought in mind.

In the US, the emerald is the May birthstone. When I was young, forest green, fairly clean emeralds were what I remember seeing in the jewelry stores. I received an emerald ring from my grandparents when I was 6 years old and still have it altho' there's a large chip on it now. I again got one when a teenager....there were only forest green ones. All this to say that a forest green, included emerald brings a warm spot to my heart.

NOW, I truly prefer the saturated green of Tsavorites and other beautiful bright green stones more than the deep forest green color. I don't care for the lighter emeralds nor ones with heavy blue secondary color...I say that and one will pop up the I think is really pretty.

I've gone the long way around to say I guess I want light, bright 'Forest greens'.

Here's a stone that I really like the color of....it's the right green color altho' I like the brilliance of the Tsavorite more. This is a chrome tourmaline - the right side is thru the chelsea filter. I can't remember it's weight, it's about a 7mmx9mm or so....

It's a 2800ct Russian Emerald crystal measuring 11.5 x 6cm. It's in the American Museum of Natural History.

Since we're on the topics of greens, has anyone else been seeing more and more of those brighter Kenyan Idocrases around recently?

They are neither included, dark, 'sleepy' or yellowish, as is often associated with Vesuvianite. Some I have been in Silom recently are a bright, clear and lively forest green. I had bought some lively ones before, but they were a little on the dark side. However these are light, bright and fully transparent.

They seem to look best in the trillon (although that can be said of many stones).

I personally prefer blueish%20-%25 green %75-80 hues and a 6.5- 8 tone. The trade seems to prefer Pure green in tones 7.5-9.
