Reading this old post found it interesting. Did the trip ever happen? That kind of trip is something I would do! Repelling gear, tin foil soles, and a 4 ft dandelion fork! Sure beats repelling into a air shaft into shelves filled with rattle snakes and bats. My claim didn't have access, even though I knew where the shafts were supposed to be. Blasted shut for good reason. Bad air.

Not yet, it is still one place i am planning on going to. For now i am investigating the place from my last post here. Amethyst, and agate abound.

For the record, I've seen a few garnets in igneous rock, ostensibly from Arizona, offered for sale online (eBay iirc). I thought of this thread but I'm afraid I didn't look into it, they weren't very exciting specimens.
