Sorry about it being that way! I did have important questions about florescent stones. They're rare earth minerals mixed with other stone. Put in a basic way. Do they need to be tested before cutting? Or is there color guidelines for REM? PS sorry for that. I ran out of time & was not able to get to my questions. But I was excited to find them & wanted to share it.
Fluorescence isn't always caused by the presence of rare earths. In fact, I'm not sure if it usually (or ever?) is. Just because something is fluorescent doesn't necessarily mean you should cut it, though there are some fluorescent materials that can yield very nice stones. If you want to learn more about this stone in particular though you'll need to give better pix (preferably some in normal light too). Finding a fluorescent mineral yourself is, no doubt, quite rad.

I thought the stone was like a mica quartz mix (pink quartz) I found rare earth minerals on geology online. I also got more information a while back. Checked on it again. Not done reading. Probably never will be. In my area rem is common., Some of this stuff may not be okay to mess with. I understand some minerals do uv glow. Inclusion such as iron? May cause low or no glow. Geology goes into it some but when I do start to cut I don't want to blow my house up or fall over dead lol. I do use a mask but not a fume mask like when we paint.

Rare Earth Minerals do not cause fluorescence to my awareness. Mewho, you might be interested in checking out the Fluorescent Mineral Society. Here is a link to their gallery: http://uvminerals.org/gallery There is a lot of info on the site that you won't have to "join" to read through.
