It does look like an opal doublet or triplet. It could also be any of a number of imitations, however. This can't really be distinguished from photos like this.
The small-ish size of the individual colour patches and the uniformity of their distribution suggests synthetic opal. But only suggests. It is impossible from a photograph to go beyond that.

If it is an opal triplet, it's value is only a few $. There have been an amazing number of opal substitutes over the years, the wildest I ever saw was dried, dyed fish skin, coming out of Asia, and set as opal triplet. If you are unsure what is ment by triplet, it is a piece of valueless opal, with a tissue thin slice of precious opal laminated onto it, then a quartz, or glass, cabachon top glued on. Opal is sooo soft, that a triplet gives strength, and protection to the precious stuff. Barry.
