Hello,

That is so sweet of him. Lucky woman.

Don't we just love when our husband (or lover) do those little crazy things for us? Now, you have even a better motivation to learn to identify gems. But, what ever it is, those will stay really valuable to you.

Enjoy life.
Have a nice Sunday.

Brigitte

Oil well? I'll bet there's a geologist around at least on occasion. Tell your friend to ask him.

I will ask him.
He said at the time it was a person digging alone.
I love them! And yes they're a diamond in my eyes.

He got me more stones.
They are harder & do scratch glass.
They are similar in texture to
some of my other stones.
His are the ones with the bands in them.
I still have not been able to identify the stone's.
I even used the link.
I guess I get confused.
They all have that smooth surface.

I would guess chert of some sort on the smaller ones. Bigger one has a jaspery appearance but some weathered rocks can get that look, even with a glossy finish.
Some chert/flint takes a very glossy polish and can thus cut beautiful cabochons. I have a friend who has cut a number of leaverite-type stones for us with good results.

Two of the stone's being started.
Loving it!
The preachy one is fieldspar.
The banded one is marble.
