Hi! I'm a complete gem noob and need some help with a project. I would like to create a necklace for each of my two daughters. The necklaces would consist of a pendant along with two stones for each birthday they've had. Going forward, I would give them two new beads for each birthday until they are 18.
This image should add a bit of clarity to the overall design. The specifics are where I have problems finding exactly what I want. Here's what I'm looking for:
1. They are both born in Feb., so I'd like the necklaces to be made of amethyst.
2. One girl's should be typical purple amethyst, since her favorite color is purple. The other's favorite color is pink, so I'd like that one to be pink amethyst.
3. One girl loves violets, so I'd like the pendant shaped like an African violet (or at least a flower that looks somewhat like a violet).
4. The other likes hearts, so I'd like her pendant to be a heart.
5. The beads should be the same colors as the pendants, and I'd prefer it if they were spheres.
6. The pendants should be similar size to each other, so it looks somewhat like a set (same with the beads).
Anyway, I guess the hardest part of this project has been finding the pendants. I imagine there are some go to sites that you guys use for stuff like this, but I haven't found them. The best I've found is eBay, and it doesn't have exactly what I'm looking for (and I worry about authenticity).
And of course I'm interested in any overall advice on what I need to look for, watch out for, etc.
Anyway, anything that helps even a little will be much appreciated. Thank you!!

After sending off my message though it struck me that I know someone who does exactly the sort of thing you are looking for, does it meticulously, using the best quality materials, and has been doing it for years and thus may very well have exactly what you are looking for on hand, in stock, whereas if it was me, I would have to go searching.

I'm one of the PM culprits--I'm always forgetting about that 5-post rule. I was just offering to cast some pendants for him if he wanted, and I figured that kinda stuff was more appropriate for a PM

Thank you for the note! I sent a note to the Tysons, so I appreciate the heads up.
Just so everyone knows, by the way, I didn't "tell on" anyone for the PMs. I just contact Barbara because I was anxious to figure out how to access the notes!

I appreciate it. A couple of people have suggested I will be able to do this with "off the shelf" pieces. I'm going to spend a couple of days going down that road, but I won't be surprised if the pendants (especially the violet) require me to come back and look for custom work soon. I will keep you in mind!
