I read that light colored spinel can fade at high temperatures. Does this also include sunlight exposure? I have been thinking of buying some spinel stones but I am just curious as to how stable the color would remain if it was set on a ring or some earrings and worn often.

I've never heard of spinel being unstable to sunlight. What temperature caused fading according to the article you read jtres? Not familiar with this either.

You know the problem is that they did not specify what temperature caused fading. They just stated "high heat" . That made me to wonder about prolonged sunlight exposure. However, I just found on a GIA page that they say its stable when exposed to light but high heat can cause light spinel to fade. http://www.gia.edu/spinel-care-cleaning. So I guess its pretty straight forward. What a hardy stone it is.
