Hi Everyone, I'm new to the forums and have this boggling thing.
(I think) I have this black diamond which was bought from India and trying to identify if it's real or not. Since there is not a lot of information about them, trying hard to conclude what is it, if it's a fake or not.
This dilemma is here, The stone is a solid black, so I'm thinking it's irradiated to achieve such a colour. I took it to 2 jewellers who said it's nothing and worthless... BUT I tested it with a diamond tester and tests as a diamond o.O
Could it be a black moissy? (My tester doesn't differentiate between moissy and diamond)

Thanks so much Barbra! It seems to be a black moissanite. As under a microscope, it's evenly grainy and not translucent but rather too dark for light to pass through. This read was very helpful indeed.
I guess it's one of those 'oops' buys. How much is a 11ct black moissanite worth nowadays?
This may be a really dumb question, but wouldn't 'black moissanite' essentially be normal SiC, since clarity is the exception there? It's trivial to get large chunks of opaque/very slightly translucent SiC for very low prices.
