 Post subject: Rotational color change in synthetic (!?) sapphire

Ok, so this is probably a really dumb question that has to do with plane polarized light or something...

I have a boule of synthetic sapphire. If I hold it up to my computer's monitor, looking down the C axis of the boule, it's peach colored. If I rotate the boule 90 degrees, it's rhodolite colored. Another 90 degree rotation brings it back to peach, and again to rhodolite.

Why?
