Hi all,

In a previous post in this thread I mentioned a piece of Mexican opal somewhere in my clutter that bore the honeycomb pattern. Well that one is still *somewhere* - but here's another Mexican that has it also. There's no play of colour in this piece; the "honeycomb" is purely structural, you can see the relief. If A) there were play of colour, and if B) the structural anomaly that causes the honeycombing did extend below the surface (which it seems reasonable to expect that it would, at least to some unknown depth) then it seems to me also reasonable to expect that the play of colour would also be modified in some way in the honeycomb patches.
