I've just owned a Eickhorst Gemled refractometer, and i can't see the correct readings of my tiny stones. may the fact that they are very small (3mm) be and issue? or am i doing something wrong?

3mm is not that small. I suspect you are using too much RI liquid.
Tip: after putting your drop on the hemicylinder, take a paper towel and roll a wee bit into a point with your fingers. Use the little point to absorb access liquid.
