Hello,

I have been reading this adventure and I found it most interesting. I am glad it turned out to be natural, but my curiosity has the best of me because I have never seen a "pretty" Indian ruby.

Was the ruby's actual origin revealed in the testing? Is it indeed Indian?

Also, has there been any treatment of the stone - like heat treatment?

I just saw the replies now over a year later. When I had it evaluated here in the states no origin was indicated. The jeweler from which I bought it, had it from a family that had it for years before selling it. Usually years ago in Iran most of the rubies came from India or Afghanistan but of course now there are rubies from all over the world such as Burma, so I really can't be certain but I would guess India. If anyone is still curious and wants any pictures I took from a 10x loupe just private message me and I'll send them.

Hey everybody I am waiting to get pictures of higher magnification as apparently the 10x pictures through a loupe leave even more debate. I will post as soon as I get them done. Thanks.

Hi, I bought his huge ruby ring online a few days ago, I haven't received it yet, was wondering
if the stone seem to be a real ruby or not? it kind of seems "genuine" as it has irregularities specially on the upper side,
on more than one picture.

My guess, and it is just a guess, is that the irregularities are dirt on the pavillion and that the stone is a flame fusion ruby. As it is impossible to tell from your images I suggest you take it to a qualified gemmologist to have it checked.

Ok, thanks for the answer, I'll check it out more closely when I get it home, it wasn't all that expensive so it doesn't matter, #-o
it was from an pawn shop auction ...

Most pawn shop owners are pretty switched on people, and anything going to auction would have been assessed for value. The chances of finding a "real" precious stone, I would imagine, are pretty slim.
Would love to see stories of those who have made a big find though!
Barry.

Hello, the style of the ring, the cut, color and clarity of the stone clearly suggest a synthetic flame fusion ruby.
Nice vintage piece anyway.

Turned out you was all right, it's synthetic, it's way too perfect to be genuine, but as you said, it's a nice ring and I like big rings.
I did have had one true find once, many years ago now, I boiúght a pendant and the stone was a 12ct pear shaped genuine Andalusite =)

It's ok, I have looooooooooooads of jewlery, diamonds, gold, pearls etc, it's been my biggest interest since over 20yrs, and I have over 20ct real rubys, not very high quality, mostly tho. I have also posted about the andalusite back then, here and actually it was "you guys" who thought in the end that it was genuine, it's green/brown color shifting and all, on my old account, I don't think that account is active anymore.

We wouldn't deactivate an account because it hasn't been used in awhile. It's probably here somewhere. :D
