Perhaps, we could do some testing. Do you have hardness points? What is the hardness of the unknown? Do you have a polariscope? Results? Does it feel warm or cold on the tongue?
It could be amber, fill a bucket or appropriately sized container of water and add salt until the solution becomes saturated , then if it floats its amber and if it sinks it should be plastic.

heat up a bent paper clip till red hot and poke it! if it smell's like burning wood its amber, if its acidic it is plastic, if you cannot poke it, its glass!
