I really like The Zero Stone by Andre Norton, as well as its sequel, Uncharted Stars.

I am a big fan of The Handbook of Gemmology. A lot of great info in one spot with some awesome photography. Available in digital formats.

Have you read through Dr. Smigel's course on the left side?
The course from UC Berkeley and the Gemology Project?

I have not read too many book on gems still, but two of the books I like the most so far is:

Richard W Wise´s "Secrets of the Gem Trade, The Connoisseur's Guide to Precious Gemstones" Great book! :)
Richard W Hugh´s "Ruby & Sapphire, a collectors guide" (2014) Lots of great photos! :)

I wish I could get my hands on Richard W Hugh´s "Ruby & Sapphire" from 1997, but they are only available on the second hand market for lots and lots of dollar as far as I know
