A Photo-Safari to Gemstones of the World with
Robert Weldon Photography & Visual Communication Manager, GIA
Be informed and prepared. Education is key in our current market one of our industry’s respected participants and contributors will present a photo-safari to Gemstones of the World.
Weldon is one of GIA’s resident connoisseurs of colored gemstones and their localities. This evening will dazzle you with the experience of Weldon’s seventeen (+) years of reporting on and photographing gemstones, as well as, addressing numerous gemological issues such as Fair Trade Gemstones.
Beyond “reporting” Weldon has traveled to many of the most remote regions that are the sources of our treasured gemstones such as Myanmar (Burma), East Africa, India, Thailand, Russia, Sri Lanka and South America. Additionally, Weldon’s photographs have appeared in scores of international gemological, jewelry, and consumer publications and in several books. His experience includes being a senior editor at JCK Magazine and later Professional Jeweler Magazine before returning to work at GIA in 2006.

Hi,
Do not miss it, besides to be a terrific photographer, he is also a great guy!
Sadly the diner will be on the other side of the world... So I will not be able to attend it.
All the best,

I would second Vincent's recommendation. Robert Weldon is always worth listening too and produces excellent presentations as you would expect of someone who is GIA's Photography & Visual Communication Manager.
Wish I could go but am in the same situation as Vincent and the same country!

I've seen Robert Weldon every opportunity I get.
He is so forthcoming with sharing his camera skills.
He is a great speaker, always has interesting stories, accompanied with stellar photos.
I would definitely try to make the lecture....you know, if you live within 500 miles of San Francisco.

Just a reminder to all our Bay Area Members. The Robert Weldon lecture is this coming Tuesday.
You can come for lecture only: $20, but the price of the dinner includes the lecture too and the foods pretty good.
Casual atmosphere.
Nice crowd.

Jeff,
Watch the news on the bridge. They found a bad break today that has to be fixed. But the restaurant (Sinbad's) is just about a block from the Embarcadero BART station--just walk towards the water.
