Glenn Lehrer Award winning Gemstone Carver and Fine Jeweler "The Art of Gemstone Carving and the Making of the Bahia"
Glenn Lehrer, G.G. is internationally recognized as one of the finest gemstone carvers of our time. A graduate gemologist, he has won twelve awards for his jewelry and gemstone designs including Cutting Edge, Spectrum (AGTA) and the coveted NITCH awards. His work has been exhibited in museums and galleries worldwide and has appeared on the cover of 13 magazines in the United States and Europe.
The Bahia was created in collaboration with Lawrence Stoller and is recognized as a major feat of the carving art. It was given the distinction by Gemological Institute of America, as the “World’s Largest Gemstone Pendant.” It is a 450lb gem optical rutilated quartz sculpture that hangs suspended 30 feet from a ceiling by two (2) thin 3/16” steel cables. It has been on exhibition at the Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh, PA. and the Los Angeles Museum of Natural History. Bahia is now on permanent display at the campus of the Gemological Institute of America’s (G.I.A.) in Carlsbad, California.
Please join us for an evening with Glenn Lehrer and learn about the fine art of gem carving from a master and learn how Bahia was born.
