I thought I'd seen this on the board, but I must have been thinking about somewhere else as I can't find it now. If it's already here, please excuse the additional post. I thought a few others may need a heads up on this:
(CARLSBAD, Calif.) - The Second Gemological Research Conference (GRC), scheduled for Aug. 21-23, 2009, in San Diego, Calif., and hosted by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), has been postponed pending improvements in the current economic situation.
The serious downturn in the global economy has led GIA to reconsider the timing of the GRC, and the decision has been made to not hold the conference next summer.
Those who have already registered will be receiving a full refund of their registration fees within the next few weeks.
GRC Co-chair Brendan Laurs stated, "GIA greatly appreciates all of the ideas and energy that have been contributed to the 2009 GRC. We look forward to the time when we can put our GRC plans back into action."
