Ornella Iannuzzi is a multiple award-winning artist jeweller, who set herself apart in the industry
thanks to her exquisite one-off pieces, quoted many times as “outstanding statement pieces” by the
press and industry professionals. Her style is characterized by unusual eye-catching organic shapes
with a clever mix of materials, and her creations are constantly crossing the boundaries between
jewellery and fine art. She is particularly interested in challenging the preconceptions of jewellery
and she considers her creations as little sculptures to wear, or to display as independent miniature
artworks.

Ornella was born in the French Alps and started her training in jewellery in France. She worked as a
designer for Van Cleef & Arpels in Paris before coming to London to complete her Master degree in
jewellery at the Royal College of Art. After graduating in 2007, she decided to set up her own brand
in London and is now one of the rising stars on the jewellery scene. She won this year the Selected
Crafts & Design Awards and was a finalist in the UK Jewellery Awards.

Ornella will talk about her new collection “Lucy in Wonderland” based on the recently found Ethiopian
Wello opals. She will give a general introduction on the opals (from the first deposit discovered
in Mezzezo in 1993 to the newly discovered one in Wegel Tena in 2008) before explaining the
development of the collection: from the rough stones collected in Ethiopia last May up to the final
jewellery artworks launched at the Goldsmith’s Fair last month.
