This will be the 3rd Martin Zinn Expositions, Southeast Gem, Mineral & Fossil show in Cartersville, GA!!! The show is held from August 20th-22nd. Show hours are Friday & Saturday from 10 am-6 pm, and on Sunday from 10 am-5 pm. Free parking! Free Admission! (& Air Conditioned :P !) There will be over 65 dealers from the US of A and abroad. The show will be held again at the Holday Inn in Cartersville, GA and is 45 miles north of Atlanta and 65 miles south of Chattanooga on I-75 at Exit 293.

On the postcard I received on the show, it has a picture of 'barite,' wondering if this will be this year's mineral of the show. ?

I just finished Marco's Sparkly Dome in light JXR. I will bring it. It will knock your socks off. Belongs to a MAGMA member from NJ. It is in acetone to get the last bit of epoxy off, but I think 12mm and guessing 6-8 cts.

Edit - 11.7mm, 8.8cts. Just measured. Came back up stairs to look for an oval (same folks, more purple piece next).

All of you that weren't there, you missed it! We passed stones and jewelry around the table at dinner. We hopped room to room at the gem show. And Jason even invented a new drink that we think will be the hit in restaurants stalked by TMZ cameramen. Jason made the first Opal Sunrise. Start with an ice cold glass of water. Put in one Welo opal, and watch it clear up. We were trying to figure if it would be a vodka drink for about $500 per glass. :D

It was fantastic :D , sorry I missed the dinner but I shopped until I dropped and was not feeling too well Saturday evening. :( I took a final look around this morning and left but I will rest up for next year. Next year we can have a GemologyOnline sign in sheet at the show registration table. It would have been great to know who was there. Anyway my first show was a success, but will have to better pace myself. It is a good thing I have never made it to AZ, as it would probably kill me.
